Abstract
Objectives: The purposes of this study were to explain the status of maternal child health and to identify the related factors of low birth weight among working married women.

Methods: The size of samples was 902 persons under forty year old. The data were collected by self recorded method for questionnaire from October 2001 to March 2002.

Results:
The major findings of this study were as follows;

1. In the maternal child health status, the mean of total live birth was 1.53, the fetal death rate was 18.2%, the artificial abortion rate was 24.3%, the low birth weight rate was 16.3%.

2. The most affecting factor on low birth weight by multiple logistic regression analysis were smoking (OR=1.94), and followed by repeated heavy working(OR=1.82), experience of fetal death(OR=1.65), working place(OR=1.60), change of health status (OR=1.50).

Conclusions: Above the results, we may suggest as follows;

The maternal child health problem was thought to be related to personal health behavior, especially smoking and working condition. Therefore, we suggest the health education to change health behaviors should be focused. Also, maternal reproductive health status should be considered when decide working position, and the opportunity to have prenatal care should be provided in workplace. Other related factors on low birth weight were repeated heavy working, experience of fetal death, change of heath status. Therefore, we suggest that the strategy and program for pregnant working women to keep healthy should be developed.
